Chapter 31: The Marbella Dog

The Marbella Dog (Chapter 31)

A Rough Morning and a Glimmer of Hope

Well, I just can’t understand obviously as to why I feel like a piece of shit. I mean, I only drank 4 bottles of wine yesterday, uuuufffff. Are you lemon poking me? Yes, I have double amount of orders today as someone lied yesterday regarding my orders; total bastards tee hee.

So, today was a shower day, cold shower, a total slap in the face day, a pull myself together day and, no, no, no, not a day to feel sorry for myself.

I totally filled TNT’s van that day, and I went home and put the kettle on, and I actually felt OK. Then I looked at my phone:

“Hi, I am very concerned, last night I was driving along a road in Marbella and I saw a man walking a dog on a lead, this dog looked exactly like your George, so I pulled over, and I stopped him, I asked him if this was his dog and he said, NO. I then explained about George, and he said he was looking after this dog. He said that this dog belonged to his boss at work.”

“Oh my god, do you have any more details, please” I typed.

“Oh yes, I followed him to his address, and tonight his boss is home, so I will send you the location, and I will meet you there this evening when I finish work,” she typed.

Bloody hell, aren’t women amazing as no man would have done that.

Heading to Marbella

“Gordon, I need you to drive me to Marbella today at 5pm,” I messaged.

Isn’t this also great that being a woman, you can ask a man to drive you?

What wasn’t good, though, was that I had 6 hours to wait until I found out if this dog was George. So, off I went with the dogs on a walk in the campo; this was a walk for them, none of the whistling and shouting, “Come on boys, let’s find George.” It was now time for them to begin enjoying life again.

It wasn’t long before Gordon messaged: “On the way,” so dogs all in, and I waited outside the gate. “Sounds like another wild goose chase if you ask me,” said Gordon. “Shut up and be more positive,” I said while giving him an evil glare.

Another Lookalike and Disappointment

This was the longest drive to Marbella that I had ever been on, Gordon was chatting away, yet I wasn’t listening to him. Finally, we were there and so was the girl that had messaged me. “It’s that house over there” she said while pointing to a door. As we walked over, we could hear 2 dogs barking in the property, and as we peered through the gate, there he was.

Another dog that looked just like George, I knew instantly that it wasn’t him and the girl was so apologetic, yet for me, I could so understand how she really believed it was George, I thanked her profusely and asked her to always please contact me if she ever believed a dog that she sees could be George.

Beer, Chores, and New Leads

“Beer,” that’s all Gordon could say. “Yes, please,” I replied. Then we drove back to mine in silence. Gordon came in, and we sat with a beer, “At least it looked like George,” said Gordon. “This is true; I so get why she believed it was him,” I said. “You need to have a tidy up and go shopping because Kerry is arriving tomorrow,” said Gordon. “Yes, that is my plan for tomorrow; I have all day to do that as she won’t land until 9pm.”

Gordon left, and I walked around the house and decided to start cleaning now. Music on, and load after load, I was pushing into the washing machine, thank goodness for my tumble dryer. Our Julie then messaged, “You getting ready for Kerry,” she typed. “Yes, I am on it like a car bonnet,” I typed. I think that everyone was hoping that having Kerry here and shopping for her wedding dress was going to help me. Yet the stress of just picking her up from the airport in case on the way I got a call from someone who had seen George was going round and round in my head. What if we are in Málaga wedding dress shopping and she finds the dress, and then I get a call? It was all just racing in my mind.

I knew that Gordon or Claudia would happily collect Kerry from the airport, yet I knew this was something that I had to do.

Clothes, Thoughts, and Exhaustion

“Blimey boys, everywhere looks so clean; it even smells good,” I said.

“Come on, boys, last wee-wees.” Balls I had done all that washing, yet I had forgotten about the clothes still sitting outside on the wooden wagon wheelchair.
